Welcome! |
 |
Once again we welcome the significantly lengthening days of spring and the soon arrival of a new season of cruising on the Alaska Adventurer.
This year marks Alaska Sea Adventures 30th year of providing an ultimate Alaska adventure for our special guests. This year also marks Alaska’s 50th celebration of statehood. It’s a special time even with the austere economic atmosphere that grips us all. You can be assured we will be doing all that we can to help make that Alaska trip become a reality.
With this newsletter, ASA will be starting a more frequent, more abbreviated newsletter to help keep you informed of what’s new with Alaska Sea Adventures and exciting information about Alaska and Alaska’s flora and fauna. As usual, there will always be more in depth information about newsletter articles at our web site.
Warmest Regards,
Captain Dennis Rogers

Eagles feeding on herring |
Though some folks may look at a vacation as “getting away from it all”, we can assure you that you will be getting up close to it all! It’s like being in your own private wilderness and wildlife sanctuary while enjoying the crew’s hospitality, the fabulous food and drink, and the warmth and comforts of the Alaska Adventurer.
Captain Dennis Rogers and guests will start off the new season by cruising Hoonah Sound and Seymour Canal and experiencing the spring wildlife festivals which surround the incredible spawning events of the Pacific herring. You’ll be treated to the very first glimpses of humpback whales as they gorge on herring and carry out their incredibly intelligent, cooperative group bubble-net feeding. You’ll watch the incredible Bald eagle action and listen to their calls – the eagles number in the thousands as they dive and dive on the vulnerable herring. You won’t want to miss a moment as wildlife abounds during the arrival of spring!
If you are a professional or amateur photographer, you’ll be in the right place at the right time – this amazing setting with the abundance of wildlife is a rare opportunity to take a treasure of perfect, and otherwise hard-to-capture, wildlife photos and/or footage.

The magical and beautiful Seymour Canal is a spectacular setting for this unique wildlife action. It is important to note that when we cruise here, we are the only humans in attendance – we are literally alone with nature and wildlife (this is not a common Alaska tourist attraction and is typically an experience had only by the guests onboard the Alaska Adventurer). For anyone who enjoys nature, wilderness, wildlife and adventure, this is absolutely a “must do!” There are a couple of open cabins on this fantastic May 2nd – 9th Seymour Canal cruise so take this rare opportunity and jump onboard!
| “Thank you for making my kids, my husband and myself so happy while sharing this spectacular natural wonder. It’s been one of my favorite vacations of all times with learning and laughter and moments of sheer awe! I will remember this week always and hope to someday voyage on the Alaska Adventurer again”. Amazing Alaska Facts
An Alaska summer resident, the Bar-tailed Godwit’s nine day 7,400 migration from Alaska to New Zealand is the longest non-stop migration ever recorded according to biologists who tracked the flight using satellite tags. The birds use the position of the sun and the stars to navigate the long journey. |
