Alaska Sea Adventures home port of Petersburg offers some remarkable activities for our guests. Walking though the town gives visitors a sense of the Scandinavian heritage of Petersburg’s founding and present day families. A car rental for a cruise ‘out the road’ to explore the 30 mile long Mitkof Island presents a full day of scenic rainforest island touring.  Whale Watching
Sign up for this great whale adventure. Take one of our 6 passenger cruise boats through the waters of Frederick Sound and see Humpback Whales. This tour usually leaves in the early morning and is an 8 hour tour.

 Leconte Glacier
Visit Alaska’s southernmost tidewater glacier. The tour takes you to LeConte Bay through beautiful blue icebergs, hanging glaciers, seals, and birds. Due to heavy calving of the glacier, it is possible that you may not be able to see the glacier face. This tour takes approximately 4.5 hours and leaves mornings and afternoons.

 Kayak Day Trips
Explore the harbor and scenic Petersburg Creek, which is a wilderness area. You don’t need prior experience, and all ages are welcome. This is a four hour trip and is great in any weather. Bears and deer are regularly seen, as well as a variety of birds. You will depart two hours prior to high tide.

 Rainforest Hike and Leconte Glacier Fjord Tour
Enjoy a fully guided hike around Three Lakes Loop area on Mitkof Island, followed by a powerboat trip to LeConte Bay. Requires hiking 3.5 miles on mostly flat ground. Tour leaves a 830am and returns at 330pm

Explore by air and you will understand why renown explorer John Muir, in 1879, described the LeConte Glacier as one of the "most imposing and first class glacier" he had ever seen.Crossing the massive Stikine Icefields, the tour continues its splendor by landing on the Patterson Glacier. The tour is approximately 1.5 hours. While on Patterson Glacier you may get out of the helicopter and explore.

The tour is new for the 2000 season and has no landings. The tour departs the airport and flys over Frederick Sound to Swan Lake. Viewing the waterfall there, then over to Devil’s Thumb and the to Patterson Glacier, and returning to Petersburg via Patterson River, approximately 35 minutes
